Weekend Yard Work

We had some time this weekend to work on our back yard. We spent a lot of time working together as a family.

This is just one load of pine needles that we raked up around the house!

Kinley was a good helper. She ran errands in her car and  even found a bracelet to wear.

We have been wanting to do something with this empty space in our back yard for a while now. We spent some time going over options and decided to build a pergola. What is a pergola, you ask? Well, join us in our blog journey to find out!

First the posts and beams go up.

Then they get bolted together.

Each post is leveled...

Then the roof slats and extra supports go in. Wow - that was easy! I just point to the spot and the thing practically appeared over night.

Here we are in the space. Tanner was very concerned that rain would get through the "roof". He is right - but it doesn't rain much in Ridgecrest so nothing to worry about.

The pergola is finished. We are planning to add a fire pit and a sitting area for family night marshmallow roasts in the back yard this Fall.
